Booth 2nds travelled to Jer Lane knowing that they had to pick up as many points as possible in order to fend off the looming threat of relegation. Bowling first on a good track Booth came out firing, with Horsfall and Patrick Thomas both bowling accurate and hostile opening spells, using a little movement off the pitch to perplex the Jer Lane top order. After Thomas had to be replaced due to bowling restrictions, Dave Oliver picked up the slack and by the drinks break, after 23 overs, Booth had 4 Jer Lane wickets on the board for only 50 runs.

However, this interlude proved to be a turning point, as the last two of the recognised batsmen in the Jer Lane ranks decided to go for broke, flaying any and every ball to all corners of the ground posting scores of 140 and 90 respectively. After the dust had settled following the onslaught, Jer Lane found themselves in the lofty position of 299-9, Horsfall being the pick of the Booth bowlers taking 5-90 off 19 overs.

Booth’s reply started as badly as the first innings had started well, with one of the Jer Lane opening bowlers ripping through the Booth top order with some testing swing and seam bowling, only Lumb (30) posing any resistance. With the score at 50-5 Sutcliffe (49) and Neil Thomas (25 no) resurrected the Booth innings and either side of a 10 over rain break advanced the booth score to 142-6, gaining Booth two further batting points. Considering the size of the score posted by Jer Lane, a return of 4 points was as much as Booth could expect and will hopefully aid them in their plight.
