Booth v Mytholmroyd 31st August
Mike Barnett won the toss for the first time since May, and put Mytholmroyd in to bat in overcast conditions.
Spencer Harris got Mytholmroyd off to a flying start with a succession of boundaries, before Booth’s opening bowlers fought back . Firstly, Harris was induced into skying a catch by Gulbaz who confidently took the return catch, before Naz Hussain ran through the rest of the top order, taking three further wickets. Misfortune then struck, as Gulbaz trying to hang on to a fierce return catch, split his hand open for the second time in three matches, and was taken to hospital for stitches. His over was completed by Hasnain Wajid who had the dangerous Bentley caught behind off only his second ball. At the other end Jameel, returning after a 3 month lay off snapped up another wicket to reduce Mytholmroyd to 92-6 at the half way stage.
Youngsters Ben Burnside and Nathan Harris set about repairing the innings and added 38 runs for the 7th wicket. The introduction of left arm wrist spinner Sebastian Holmes changed that. In his first over, Seb got one to turn and bounce and catch the edge of Burnside’s bat, to give Mike Barnett his third catch behind the stumps. In the next over Jameel bowled Harris, and followed this by also bowling the next two batsmen, to finish the innings with a hatrick.
Mytholmroyd were bowled out for 134. Unfortunately, rain began falling during the interval and the game was frustratingly abandoned.
