Booth v Triangle  14th September

At last a Sunday with some dry weather, and although the wicket was very soft it was fit for play.  Triangle won the toss and chose to field first.

Triangle’s opening bowlers Silkstone and Boyd kept things tight early on, and after 10 overs Booth had struggled to 20-1.  A partnership of 61 between Mohammed Jamil and Louis Weatherill followed before Louis was out for 20.  Mohammed Jamil continued to accumulate runs and a further partnership of 84 ensued with Hasnain Wajid (28).  Patrick Thomas was next to the crease, and his big hitting innings of 40 included 5 sixes.  Mohammed Jamil was next out for 95, with the score on 195, and with 11 overs still to go a big total seemed likely.

Triangle fought back and wickets started to fall, and at 217-8 the game was in the balance.  Two 13 year olds Seamus Barnett (29) and Sebastian Holmes (10 not out) then added a quick 35 in the last few overs.  Seamus took a particular liking to the bowling of Neil Uttley (who finished with 5-44), hitting him for two 4’s and a six from the first three balls of the last over.  Booth eventually finished on a creditable 252-9.

Patrick Thomas opened the bowling for Booth and in a fine opening spell took 2-6 in six overs.  Naz Hussain chipped in with a wicket and Gavin O’Brien with two, and when Josh Oliver bowled the dangerous Chris Silksone for 44, Triangle had subsided to 90-6.  Neil and Mark Uttley then added 63 for Triangle, before Neil skied a catch to Naz Hussain at mid off from the bowling of Hasnain Wajid.  Soon after Mark Uttley completed his 50, but was then trapped LBW by Sebastian Holmes.  Triangle were eventually bowled out for 199 when Sebastian Holmes took a superb catch on the long off boundary from the bowling of Josh Oliver, and another fine victory was complete.
